Manage session duration
For added security, you can limit the length of time (session duration) a member is signed in to Slack on desktop. Limiting session duration will require members to sign back in periodically. ⏳
By default, members will always remain signed in to Slack, but you can choose to sign members out when they close the Slack app or after a specific period of time (minimum 12 hours).
Here's how:
Standard and Plus plans
Enterprise Grid plan
-
From your desktop, click your workspace name in the top left.
- Select Administration, then Settings from the menu.
- Click Authentication.
- Click Expand next to Session Duration.
- Select how much time should elapse before requiring members to sign in.
- Click Save.
- From your desktop, sign in to your Slack Enterprise Grid, then click Manage Organization.
- Under Security page, click the Security tab.
- Under Session Duration, select how much time should elapse before requiring members to re-authenticate.
- Click Save Changes.
Note: Session duration applies to desktop only. So even with session duration turned on, members won't be signed out of Slack on their mobile devices.
Who can use this feature?
- Workspace Owners/Admins and Org Owners/Admins can turn on this feature.
- Available on paid plans.
